WISCONSIN OPERATING ENGINEERS SKILL
IMPROVEMENT AND APPRENTICESHIP FUNDin conjunction with the followingorganizations administers the oldest and most widely recognized apprenticeship program in the State of Wisconsin forOperating Engineers:
In addition to training apprentices, we offer continuing education to journeyworkers to keep their skills up-to-date and learn new and innovative methods. Safety is our top priority.
The training center is located on 380 acres near Coloma, Wisconsin in Waushara County.
In addition to the Administration and Training building, there is a classroom building and a shop. Skill Improvement training is conducted year-round. Apprenticeship training takes place from October to December and April to May with some courses running concurrent with the Skill Improvement Courses. Random training, performance testing and summer courses take place from June to October.
TELESCOPIC MATERIAL HANDLER/FORKLIFT safety courses are scheduled many times throughout the year. NCCCO (National Crane Certification) refreshers and testing are conducted quarterly. OSHA, MSHA, and HAZMAT courses normally take place during the winter months with occasional courses on an as-needed basis.
