We are a cargo transportation company providing shipping and logistics worldwide. From domestic to international, for three generations we have shipped it.
Leatherbury-Kalhagen is rooted deep in maritime history. Frank "Red" Leatherbury ran Ryan Stevedoring in 1932 and in 1944 purchased it from Waterman Steamship. This business grew until eventually Walsh Stevedoring was purchased and it then became Ryan Walsh Stevedoring. His son Robbie Leatherbury then ran the company. It grew in reputation and size, operating 26 ports in the Gulf and South Atlantic. In 1995 Stevedoring Services of America purchased Ryan Walsh Inc. and it now operates as SSA, Stevedoring Services of America in most US and many international ports.
Former "Ryan Walsh Family" stayed with SSA or went out to other positions in the maritime industry serving in many roles as executives, consultants, & port directors. One thing that is still to this day common amongst us all, is the esprit de corp that was the Ryan Walsh Family. We believed in it and our customers treasured it. One of Robbies' best friends and client was Eiliff Kalhagen who ran the US operations for Star Shippping. Today, with 75 years combined experience worldwide, Frank Leatherbury II and Ben Kalhagen continue the tradition where the "Customer is King" with a level of service and innovation that continues with the standard set for us by our fathers and former colleagues.
Our service model is "Continual Improvement"
Whether the requirement is simple shipping, ocean carriage, design of new cargo handling gear or intricate project management of refinery or power generation and transmission schedules, we have performed successfully around the globe
